The
witches seem to be almost under control.
The accused have admitted to what they have done, and are locked away in
jail, and those who have refused to admit it have been executed, like they
should be. It seems that there have been
a lot less afflictions happening in the town.
Hopefully that means we’ve gotten rid of most the witches. I found this whole ordeal to be
fascinating. I started off figuring out
who a couple witches were and then all of the sudden everyone started listening
to me. I was able to catch a lot of
witches and gained a lot of attention throughout the village. I don’t remember ever having this much
attention from anyone before. It feels
so nice! I should’ve started accusing
withes years ago. This has all wrapped
up quite nicely so far.

The First Trial
Tituba
was questioned in court today, along with Sarah Good and Sarah Osborne. They all deserve to be locked away in the
prison. Anyone who afflicts little girls
like that does not deserve to see the light of day. I decide to make sure they would be found
guilty. I may have done a little bit of
acting, but it was necessary, I could not allow witches to roam our town
freely. The first two women came up to
the stand and did as I expected. They
denied being a witch and claimed they were innocent. As I saw Sarah Good look at me I felt a seize
go through my body. I fell to the floor
screaming. “She has bewitched me!” I
cried out. Anyone that thought they were
innocent now saw the real damage these witches were causing our town. After my fit had ceased, Tituba came up to
the stand. I’m pretty sure Uncle beat
her before the trial to make sure she confessed. Her testimony was a different than the two
women before her. She started off
denying she was a witch. But as the
questioning went on, she told the courtroom that it was actually Sarah Good,
Sarah Osborne, and a man from Boston that were making her cause pain to Betty
and I. She said they threatened to hurt
or horribly if she did not listen to them.
She said that is why she attacked Betty, Ann Putnam Jr. Betty Hubbard
and I. Tituba tried to apologize to us
for what she had done. I could not
accept this apology, I knew the evil that she had done. And even after apologizing she sent Betty
Hubbard into another fit. We need to get
these witches under control before it’s too late. They could destroy this town with all the
evil they cause. I hope we will be able
to solve this issue soon.

What is Happening to us?
Sometime around January 15th, I think,
my younger cousin Betty and I began to have these strange seizing fits.
No one can figure out why these things are happening. My neighbor
Beverly described them like this, “The children were bitten and pinched by
invisible agents; their arms, necks, and backs turned this way and that way,
and returned back again, so as it was impossible for them to do of themselves,
and beyond the power of any Epileptick Fit, or natural Disease to effect. Sometimes they were taken dumb, their mouths
stopped, their throats choaked, their limbs wracked and tormented so as might
move an heart of stone, to sympathize with them, with bowels of compassion for
them.” After a period of several weeks
my uncle finally called for Doctor Griggs to take a look what’s wrong. He said, “They are under an evil hand.” All of the neighbors took this diagnose as
“we are bewitched.” Being the very
religious man he was, my uncle started to fast and pray for several weeks. He also brought in other individuals in the
community to fast and prayer with him. When
the weeks of praying and fasting did not work, our neighbor, Mary Sibley, told
our Indian slave, Tituba, to make a witchcake.
Neither Betty nor I knew what a witchcake was, but when we did it
disgusted us. Tituba took our pee and
mixed it with rye and then fed it to our family dog. From what I understand, because our dog ate
the witchcake, it means there is a witch causing our seizing fits. Now the question was, who is the witch doing
this to us? After thinking about the
question, the answer seemed obvious. Who
knew the most about witchcraft? Who had
known how to make a witchcake?
Tituba! It all made sense now,
she had bewitching us from inside our own house. I had to tell uncle! We had to remove this witch from our house.

My Early Life
I was born on July 12th, 1680. I grew up in the frontier of Maine. It was a rough upbringing, I had to do my all
chores and go through everyday life with the fear of an Indian attack in the
back of my mind. We would always hear
about small-scale Indian attacks on houses and other small settlements. The attacks were told with gruesome details
about how brutal the Indians were. One
night the Indians raided our village, they began burning buildings, beheading
and scalping men, women, and children all alike.
I witnessed a terrifying event that night, as I hid in the dark corner
under my bed the Indians came into the room and found my younger brother on the
other side of the room. Without a flinch
they promptly grabbed him and killed him with one hatchet blow to the
head. They killed my parents that night
also. They showed no mercy to anyone
unfortunate enough to be found. I was
one of the lucky one who’s survived. The
few of us that were left moved away from that satanic land. We found new places to live with friends or
family. I moved in with my uncle Rev.
Samuel Parris in Salem, Massachusetts. I’m grateful for him taking me
into his house, but he is not a very comforting man. Even though he’s family he still uses me as a
live-in slave, and the limited time he is at home, he is abusive to everyone in
the house. He spends most of his time in
his study practicing his very strict religious beliefs. I have been through so much in my life
already and it has not been getting any easier.
I need help! The only person I am
able to talk about my fears with is my younger cousin Betty. We share a bed together and each night I’d
tell her the stories of what I saw on the Frontier. The stories I told frightened her
greatly. I feel these stories are
beginning to affect her as much as they are I.
I am worried for both of us.
